Agios Konstantinos
History
Zante Town
Zante Town
Agios Konstantinos of Kipoi was preserved from 1478 in the area of the Lazareto (the quarantine hospital), next to the sea. Until the pre-war years it had a magnificent wooden carved temple from the early 17th century and various icons of the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries of excellent quality. The church was completely destroyed by the sea before the 1953 earthquakes and today every trace of it has disappeared. Two of its icons, St. Anthony, a stepped window from the early 17th century, probably the work of Michael Damaskinos, and the Virgin of Miracolosa (1728), are now preserved in the new museum.
