Maria Papageorgopoulou, the beautiful young Zakynthian girl who inspired the poet Dionysios Solomos in his poems "The Poisoned One" and "The Poisoned One in Hades"

was born, grew up and died in the house that was located directly opposite the house where the poet Nikolaos Hugos Foskolos lived in the first years of his life.

Maria Papageorgopoulou, a close friend of the poet Dionysios Solomos, embittered by an unfortunate love affair with the Italian professor who taught her piano, put a young end to her life, plunging her family and Solomos into grief.
