Monument in honor of the slain soldiers of Gaitani

In the square of the community office, in the centre of the village of Gaitani, a memorial has been placed in honour of the military officers who were killed in the nation's battles, residents of the village. The marble column has on the front side bears an engraved representation of a laurel wreath and the inscription. On the back side of the monument, there are the names of the dead soldiers: 1912 - 1913 , Soldiers : Aktypis Dion. Constantine / Aktypis Dion. Constantine Dion. Dimitrios / Marinos Dem. Nikolaos / Zavradinos Dion. Paul / Bastas Lambr. Peter / Marinos Anast. Efstathios / Marinos Dem. Ioannis / Tetradis Vas.  1940 - 1941 , Infantry Lieutenant Papageorgis Nik. John, Cavalry Sergeant Aktypis Char. Ioannis, Soldiers Aktypis Andris Panagiotis / Glavas Kon. Dionysios 1946 - 1948 , Infantry Major Pastras Phil. Konstantinos, Soldiers Droghitis Spyr. Anastasios / Papageorgis Pan. Marios / Semitekolos Char. Eleftherios, The monument is crowned by an effigy of an ancient Ionian headstone. At the bottom of the back side, an inscription mentions as benefactor (apparently donor), the Minister of Finance, Professor Petros Ioannou Steriotis (1914 - 1999).
