All about Zakynthos

On the main road that leads to Kiliomenos at the boundaries of the community, at the place where the Italian Commander of the station of Carabinieri Mahairadou was ambushed and killed on September 8, 1943, by resistance fighters, (1.5.1941 - 10.9.1943), Lieutenant Commander Kantalupo Carmine, years ago began to form a place for the construction of a monument in memory of the event. Construction did not proceed, and at the site of the ambush today, there are some stone retaining walls.
